Texas Pony of the Americas 4-H Essay Contest
Welcome to the Texas POA 4-H Essay Contest! Please read all instructions carefully and direct any questions to your 4-H leader or the Texas POA contest chairperson. This is a statewide Texas 4-H contest open to registered Texas 4-H club members between the ages of 9 (or entered in the third grade) and 16 as of August 31.
The purpose of this contest is to acquaint 4-H members with the Pony of the Americas breed, horse ownership and care in general. The winner will receive a registered POA, halter and lead rope, a Junior Membership for a year in the Texas POA Club, and various other donated prizes.

2016 TPOAC 4-H Essay Contest
Winner Announced
We are proud to announce to the board that the 2016 4-H Essay Pony Committee unanimously chose Caitlynn Teel, age 16, of the Legacy 4-H Club of Collin County as the winner of the weanling filly, Sure Shot, donated by Spencer Livestock, LLC. We had nine outstanding candidates, and as usual the panel wishes we had a pony for each, but this girl will be an outstanding owner and promoter of the POA breed.
